The overall service was great. However the food was not. I was with a party of 10 and although we didn't make a reservation, all of us were seated within 30 minutes. We had two servers. I ordered Granny's mix which essentially was a half and half and Granny's picnic lunch which included two chicken wings, French fries, Cole slaw, and a piece of cornbread. The drink I received tasted really good. They used just enough sugar. The food, however, was quite disappointing. When I received my food it looked delicious other than the Cole slaw which looked to be sitting in a puddle of liquified mayonnaise. The chicken and the fries were piping hot. The French fries were delicious and needed no condiments. However the only seasoning I tasted on the chicken was salt and only the skin of the chicken wings was salted. The meat itself held no flavor and left much to be desired. My aunt ordered a side of macaroni and cheese. However her order left much to be desired as well. She said that it needed salt. Many comments similar to this floated around my table. It seemed that we had all come to the same conclusion. Although the food wasn't horrible, it left much to be desired.

I went here today with a couple of friends for brunch. I was looking forward to it because they talk about this place like it's the place to be. Hmm. Anyway, a few problems: 1. We were told the wait for a table for 3 was 25 minutes, but when we were finally called for a table, the walk through the restaurant showed that there were many, many, many empty tables. Huh? Are they just trying to create hype with a fake long wait? Do they not have enough staff in the restaurant to serve us? 2. We were led to a table. And you know how some wait staff in some restaurants seat you in their "section"? Well, I guess that's what was done here, because the waitress led us to a table where there were 3 tables for 4 in a row....back to back to back and then a wall. The one against the wall was occupied. The one facing the entrance to the room was also occupied. She put us in the middle. And this would have been fine except on one side you have two chairs that are accessible (my side, close to the entrance). And on the other side are two chairs that are clearly NOT: a very overweight, somewhat elderly woman (she had a cane) had her chair pushed so far back from the table that one of the two chairs on that side could not be pulled out....at all. One friend and I had to sit down and then pull the table toward us so that our other friend could squeeze her (thankfully, thin....otherwise not sure how she would have gotten in) self into that side. The waitress thanked us......meanwhile, there were no fewer than 6 empty tables for four around the room, just not in her "section". 3. We ordered timely, and we received water and drinks timely, but it took at least 30-40 minutes to get any food. 4. My friend had shrimp and grits and two fried eggs, and it looked good. My other friend had chicken and waffles and an omelet....a LOT of food. It all looked good. I had a short stack (2) of pancakes, breakfast potatoes, corned beef hash, and a biscuit. The biscuit was like a hockey puck, but I will say it was a decently flavored puck. The breakfast potatoes, I thought would be like homefries or hashbrowns. They looked like mush/mash. I think I know what happened: someone got some frozen peppers and onions and dumped them in with some chopped potatoes. They tried to cook it into home fries or hash browns, but the mixture was so wet, it never got crispy. But again, the flavor was there (needed a little salt though). The pancakes also had a great flavor, but they were clearly made by an amateur...no real grandma would have one super fat pancake and one super skinny one....inconsistent! One side was a pale brown and the other side was a golden brown. Again, inconsistent. Big blob of margarine/butter on the pancakes (probably the former), and some cute syrup in a little boat.....but it tasted yucky. Granted, I am used to maple syrup. But this tasted like what I imagine Family Dollar, Dollar General, or Big Lots store brand syrup to taste like: watered down. It did not soak into the pancakes, it rolled off like water. I was really disappointed. The best thing about the meal was that it was a large amount of food for only 15 dollars on my part. My friends' bills were comparable. Mediocre food with subpar service. Unfortunately it reminded me of a broke-down Miss Shirley's. The menu has a many dishes that sound appealing. But after this experience, I doubt I will return. If my friends read this, I really enjoyed your company as usual, but you know I'm right: the service sucked!

So this review is looooooonnnnnngggggg over due. I have been dining at Granny's since their very first location. Overall the food quality is good. Since I have been dining with them, they have had a total of 3 establishments. It was my hope that with the move to each building that the service would improve. I was wrong..... I have worked in hospitality and have background in restaurant management. Whenever I go we are always greeted with "Welcome Family", then told it will be a wait. For my most recent trip, it was a table of two and they were not weeded (busy), but still given a wait time of 10-20 min. Mind you there were at least 20 empty tables. This baffles me every time. When I'm finally seated, they seat me at a bar top table. I know when they moved to the second location, one of the reasons I was advised hey moved was to gain a liquor license. That said, I would assume I would be advised of the specials or offered a drink but never was. To my surprise at this new location, that was the first thing the server told me about. Maybe it was because I was in the bar, but the drink was on point and I would go back for that alone, well the cornbread too. Lol..... So we are at the new location and yet again, there's is another hike in the menu prices. I understand food cost and changes over time, but make me feel like it's worth my coin!!! We get handed the menus and it looks to me like I got a menu from the church cafe. It was a basic sheet of paper that was laminated. That said, why am I paying $14 for a chicken wing appetizer??? Like I said the food is good. I got the Salmon Cake Dinner. Which is always good. Great flavors. Nothing to fancy on presentation. But hey. This isn't fine dining. Lord the cornbread is always great. They are just stingy with it. Lol. "You going to eat your cornbread?" (From the movie Life) All in all good food, just be prepared to wait and order a drink. It was good.

Granny's has been on my to-eat list for a while due to all the non-stop buzz about it's delicious brunch. Since I was in the area, I decided to stop by and give it a try. When I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to notice it was located in the shopping center by my mom's house. All this time, I didn't know the hidden gem was tucked in at the end of the block I so often visited. From the outside dining, it didn't look to be crowded, so we asked for outdoor seating. We were told that regardless, it would still be a 30-45min wait. We waited about 30 minutes and were seated. However, we missed the brunch menu by 10 minutes which I was a little peeved about, but I had no one to blame but myself for my random pop-up lol. I was assured the dinner menu would be just as good, and I wasn't lied to. We ordered a grilled cheese meal for my nephew, while my mother got salmon cakes and I the fried Tilapia. To my surprise (once again) theses meals were huge and big enough for 2 rounds (if you're greedy like me) or splitting with someone else if your not stingy. The Mac & Cheese side was typical southern styled - smothered in cheese and love, stuffed into an oven bowl/dish. The salmon cakes won my mother over and since she's anti-restaurant/pro-home cooking, that states a lot! And the granny's version of a half/half was so delicious I ordered 2. So long story short, if you're looking for some good southern cooking that will put you striaght into food coma, this is the place to visit. I only reduced the stars because I missed brunch and didn't get the full granny's experience.

Hello my name is Kapri and I am addicted to Granny's! Quite frankly I have been a patron at this restaurant twice in this passed week and they have done nothing more than provide me hearty meals and warm service. My initial visit was for a business lunch. I tried the Peach bourbon wings, Chicken and waffles lunch platter, a side of greens, mac and cheese, candied yams and spiced apples and topped it off with pineapple upside down cake for desert. As it was during the work day, I washed it all down with a brown sugar lemonade. Needless to say i was totally eating with my eyes. EVERYTHING was excellent! So much so that for date night that was the first and only place that came to mind when my husband asked what I wanted for dinner. All I could think of was peach bourbon wings and the smothered pork chops that was recommended however that I did not get to try. So on the downside, you are not allowed to order from the dinner menu during lunch. Total bummer. So on my second trip, I repeated my Peach bourbon wings order and added their caesar salad, mac and cheese and smothered pork chops. Every bite was like heaven on my fork. The ambiance and lighting is soothing. The service on both occasions was fast and efficient to where one does not feel robbed in quality. I have been to some places where being fast meant that their microwave works really well and that is certainly not the case here. Finger licking good food at a decent price and all the cornbread and butter I can eat is definitely worth the hike from Laurel to Owings Mills. Try it, you'll love it!

Granny never fails to impress. The food is delicious, the portions are deluxe. I feel like I'm on my great grandparents farm having Sunday dinner. Watching out for granny's mix though, it will have you bouncing off the wall, or so sweet. But 4 glasses in and I was done.

The food here is delicious, the portions are big enough to make two meals (I'm a defensive lineman), and the service is pretty good. Everything on the menu that we tried has been delicious.

This place is a ghetto hot mess. Service is garbage! It was better at the mall. I will never go to this place again.

Granny's has moved from the mall to the spot where Liberatore's used to be. That being said the move to a bigger space didn't make them step of their game in any fashion. While the new place is nicely appointed they have added walls to the space which just makes the whole building feel disjointed and hard to navigate. There was. We were seated in the sectiom closest to the kitchen. It was only 2pm but they had dimmed the lights as if it was closer to dinner time. Our waitress was really nice and helpful except everytime she brought refills she left the old glasses. Not really a problem just funny to see the glasses pile up. The food which is always my problem with this place; it is merely decent for the prices charged. I wasnt very hungry so i got shrimp and grits and a side of chicken wings. The shrimp were cooked well and seasoned nicely. The grits i think they were mixed too much because they were extra smooth that ironically the consistency had no grit. The wing appetizer gives you 2 wings for $4 thats laughable $2 per wing especially when it tastes extra regular. The boo had chicken and waffles with mac and cheese and fries. The fries were frozen the mac and cheese lacked seasoning the chicken as stated above bland and the waffle just ok. And all of this for $20! The highlight of the meal was the cream of crab soup, which was creamy had actual lump crab in it just exceptional. My last note and this is just personal preference, i don't like that every one who works there calls the customer family. Lol i get they are tryingto cultivate the down home southern charm feeling but its off putting to me after about 10 different ppl call me family and we have yet to exchange first names like just tone it down a tad.

I've always been a fan of this spot but I really feel the menu is no longer doing it for me. Price is very high for the plates. Even in the lunch menu. Customer service is always outstanding and decor at the new location is nice. But almost $20 for fried chicken is absurd. Could use more healthier items too.

Been going to Granny's for some years, food is excellent and always Hot. When you want a home cooking this is the place to go and the portions are frankly enough for two people. Nothing negative to say!

I've been to many restaurants but Granny's has the worst service I've ever experienced. The restaurant operates in complete disfunction. We waited over an hour to get a seat and it wasn't because they were busy. The excuse was that they are not accustomed to serving parties of 9. What?! Really?! When we finally got seated, we waited 45 mins before I got up on 2 separate occasions to tell the staff that nobody has come to our table to introduce themselves, get drinks or take our orders. When someone finally came it took over an hour for our food to come. The service was so bad I thought we may have been on a prank tv show. In total, we were there for 4 hours. The manager came over once to try and resolve the lack of service but he disappeared after 2 brief visits. I feel bad for this business. They need better processes in place and need to train their staff better. One of the waiters gave us a small discount but honestly the service was so bad it should have been free. The food... It was ok. Nothing memorable. It reminds me of something I can cook in my own kitchen. I ordered the fried chicken wings with mac n cheese and collard greens. We definitely will not be back.

Had to follow up on my happy hour visit from 3 weeks ago. Came back tonight and ordered the seafood gumbo, (they had it)! It was very good and filling. My wife repeated the chicken legs and sweet potatoes slices again. My daughter had the rib tips and corn. She did remark that the corn was missing something but couldn't put her finger on it. She said the ribs were great. But once again, I must acknowledge the customer service. We were welcomed to happy hour by the manager, Tabitha. Tabitha was the person who informed us of the new happy hour last month. First of all, she remembered us and I think that shows attention to detail. Secondly, I was telling her we came the first week they opened happy hour but she wasn't in. She asked about our experience and as I started to tell her about it, she mentioned that someone else had a experience like that and posted it. I laughed and told her it was me. So why am I telling you this, because it shows they read the REVIEWS! Customer service is so overlooked today in business. This restaurant seems to stress it! Our bartender and waitress were both excellent. I highly recommend that if you are in the area, check them out.

Let me begin by saying soul food is everything to me. It is hands down my favorite cuisine. Granny's is a neighborhood gem and the Peach Bourbon Wings are my absolute favorite. The Cream of Crab is rich and flavorful. There are several other items that I would list as good not always great. The wings never leave me disappointed.

Food is delicious. My neighborhood go to spot for southern cuisine. It's a little expensive but worth the money. Food portions are very generous. I like to 9 rd er the smothered pork chops and mac cheese greens.

If you're ever in the Owings Mill section of Baltimore, you have to check out Granny's. It's a beautiful and comfy southern place with a nice feel of big mama's home on a Sunday. The food was absolutely delicious and they serve huge portions. I had the fried pork chops topped with onions, covered in gravy. Mashed potatoes made from scratch topped with gravy and the vegetable Du jour of the day which was sautéed corn, onions and peppers all complimented with their cornbread!!!!!! Lawd soft cornbread made from scratch with chunks of corn in it. I was in heaven!!!!!!! The staff was super friendly, the ambiance was great and our waiter was a gem. He took great care of us!!!!!! I had an enjoyable time and I must try the shrimp and grits before I head back to New York. Thank you Granny for giving me some southern hospitality and cooking in Baltimore.

Yelp should consider allowing users to leave zero star ratings. In my history of living, I've never had worst service anywhere else. The wait times here are asinine and I have no idea how they are still in business. We arrived at 4:30 with a party of 9 (6 adults, 3 kids). We were seated roughly one hour later because we were told "they usually do not accommodate large parties" but they would try to seat our party in the same section. They sat one half of our party and served them drinks only while they proceeded to wait another 30 mins until they could seat us. When we were FINALLY seated, our server walked past us for an hour before we had to flag him down and ask if he was our waiter. He then takes our drink orders and it takes another 30-45 mins to get our WATERS. Fast forward roughly 35-40 mins he comes to take our orders right as the manager approaches and asks us how are things going. My mother in law proceeds to tell him how disappointed she is with the service because we were taking her out to Granny's for her birthday and she is diabetic so she needed to eat as soon as possible. Almost 2 1/2 hours later our food arrives and none of us were really feeling the food, service or atmosphere at this point. I honestly lost my appetite and wanted to leave over 2 hours ago but out of respect for my family I stayed. The food was just okay. I got the chicken wing platter with four wings, yams and vegetable d'jour. The chicken was fried in heavy grease, the yams a bit too sweet and I didn't eat the vegetable d'jour because I didn't feel like eating it. I also ordered a southern peach tea that was good and not overly sweet as I would have thought. Overall, the food was nothing to write home about. Everything was just okay but the service SUCKED. The hostess attempted to apologize stating that they aren't really able to accommodate large parties but it is something they plan to work on in the future.

My party of 8 dined on a Saturday night. I recall the last location and they were always packed but this location not so much. The staff was very friendly and our drinks and food came fast. The muffins they gave us for the table were yummy like always. As for my meal, the cabbage and collard greens were excellent. Everyone at the table ordered Mac and cheese and we all loved it. I Love Crab Cakes and now living in GA it's impossible to find a good one compatible to the Crab Cakes in MD but this one disappointed me. I can't say exactly what was wrong with the crab cakes but they were not very flavorful I make better ones at home. I tried my friends peach wings and they were ridiculously sweet not at all what I was expecting, the description sounded much better. Our waitress was a sweetheart and at the end of our meal she bought out a small pastry for the birthday girl. Unfortunately, she told us in advance that she was no singer and allowed us to sing alone. This is not the Granny's I remember from years ago the quality of the food was much better back then. I hope they change some things on the menu so the next time I will have a better experience.

Few restaurants can boast that there is a line at the door before opening. Granny's can, and for good reason. 1. Service is exceptional 1. Food is delicious and well prepared 2. Sweet yea and other beverages are cold and refreshing 3. Venue is drama free. 4. Performance is consistent. I don't know whose idea it was to relocate, nor do I know who manages daily operations, but this restaurant continues to be a slam dunk.

We have been regulars at Granny's for several years now and it is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. The staff is always so warm and friendly and the atmosphere is really cool. We have a three year-old and another on the way, so family friendly is very important to us; Granny's definitely meets that requirement. When you go you must try the Granny's mix! My husband and I don't even consider another drink. Since we go quite often we have all tried multiple menu items and have enjoyed all of them. The peach wings are to die for; they are an appetizer but sometimes my husband will get them as an entree. Only complaint I have is that since they have moved they no longer have the live music on Friday nights. That was always a big draw for our family. However, they explained to me why it was no longer feasible to have the band in the new location and I totally understand. One more thing...the BEST breakfast item used to be the sweet potato pancakes and for some reason that has been taken off the menu. Add that item back and you will have one super pleased patron.

We have been fans of this restaurant for years. After surgery, my husband was put in rehab. Today I did a take-out dinner of our favorite chicken wing dinner. He was so delighted that he smiled throughout the entire meal. Thanks for a delightful meal that cheered us both up.

We LOVE Granny's!!! Both breakfast and dinner are great here. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Eric and Kat are our favorite servers - Kat has served our family so many times that she has memorized our favorites. This is the perfect neighborhood eatery.

We had bid on a $50 coupon at a charity event and won, so we went for brunch on a Saturday Morning. We didn't have a reservation, and they were packed! Even so, they managed to seat us quickly. The brunch menu is 2 sided, and has a good bit of variety. The 4 of us sampled French Toast, Waffles, Pecan Pancakes, and a build your own omelet Our server was excellent, make sure the kitchen paid attention to a food allergy, and visited our table several times to make sure we had everything we needed. She brought out cornbread for the table, and that was the only thing we had that was not excellent- it was dry and didn't have much taste. But everything else was great. We thought they were a brunch place only, but the hostess said they actually do an excellent dinner business, and assured us if we came back one evening we would be as pleased with dinner as we were for brunch. We'll give it a try!

Visited the new location for the first time yesterday, hoping the service had improved since they left the mall. It hasn't. There were too many employees standing around, staring at the guests, talking amongst themselves. The layout of the restaurant is a bit awkward. The waitress seemed nervous--not sure why--didn't check back too often. We both ordered chicken and waffles, which were yummy but WAY overpriced at $20. The collard greens were extremely salty and had too much vinegar. My fiances fries had a strange aftertaste (almost fishy?). Overall the place isn't horrible, but because of the disorganized service & expensive prices I'll visit a few times a year max.

I've always been a fan of this spot but I really feel the menu is no longer doing it for me. Price is very high for the plates. Even in the lunch menu. Customer service is always outstanding and decor at the new location is nice. But almost $20 for fried chicken is absurd. Could use more healthier items too.

Been going to Granny's for some years, food is excellent and always Hot. When you want a home cooking this is the place to go and the portions are frankly enough for two people. Nothing negative to say!

We LOVE Granny's!!! Both breakfast and dinner are great here. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Eric and Kat are our favorite servers - Kat has served our family so many times that she has memorized our favorites. This is the perfect neighborhood eatery.
